Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and add the chopped onion and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the breadcrumbs, chicken broth, salt, pepper, sage, and garlic powder to the saucepan, stirring to combine. Cook until the mixture is well combined and moist. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with beaten egg. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Flatten each portion slightly and place about 2 tablespoons of the stuffing in the center.
- Wrap the beef around the stuffing to form a bundle, ensuring edges are sealed.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Add the burger bundles and sear on all sides until browned, about 2 minutes per side.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the beef is cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to customize the stuffing with additional herbs or a pinch of spice for a personal touch. Serve with a side of your favorite vegetables or a fresh salad.
